I hate the store bought pizza sauce because I feel all of them have a very artificial tasting tartness. Also they have very strong tomatoes flavor and you can’t taste any other flavor except tomatoes. That’s why I prefer to make my own sauce and using fresh tomatoes.I add few things that might not be common in pizza sauce but that’s the great thing about making your own sauce, you can add what you want 🙂
Bring some water to boil and blanch the tomatoes in water to remove the skin.
Blend the tomatoes in a blender to form a puree.
Melt butter in a pan
Add cumin seeds and let them crackle.
Add garlic and cook it for 2 min.
Add Onions and a pinch of salt and cook until the onions get soft.
Add the tomatoes puree and let it cook and reduce for 10-15 min.
Add chili,salt,sugar,pepper and oregano.
Once the tomatoes have reduced add finely chopped capsicum and cook for 2 min.
You can either use the sauce as is or you can blend it to get a smoother and finer sauce.
