A Scotch egg usually consists of a hard-boiled egg wrapped in sausage meat, coated in bread crumbs and baked or deep-fried.The London department store Fortnum & Mason claims to have invented Scotch eggs in 1738, but they may have been inspired by the Mughlai dish nargisi kofta (“Narcissus meatballs”). Nargisi kofta is boiled eggs stuffed inside a shell of kheema or minced meat. There is also a version where people cover the egg with mashed boiled potato.
I took inspiration from both and made my own version on scotch egg and Nargisi kofta. I personally love soft boiled egg with a gooey center and egg yolk oozing out so instead of hard boiling the egg i soft boiled it which made my work difficult but totally worth it. I also used chicken mince but you can go ahead and use any minced meat of your choice or potato.
You can also put the kofta’s in a curry and impress your guests.
