Soak the tamarind in 3/4 cup of warm water for some time or just put it in water microwave for 1 min.
put the mixture in blender and blend.
Now with your hands, squeeze the pulp from the tamarind in a bowl.strain the pulp and keep aside.
take butter or ghee in pan and add cumin seeds.
when the cumin seeds brown a little add the tamarind mix and remaining water.
Add salt and the jaggery and cook till it thickens.
when cooled, store the chutney in an air-tight dry jar or container. refrigerate and serve whenever required with chaat or snacks.
